Layne Staley

It's been hell of a lot of time since I even attempted to do a portrait, main reason being that I suck at it.

Last night me and my husband watched the MTV Unplugged Alice in Chains dvd and I was blown away. AIC was sort of reintroduced in my life a bit too late. Sure I remember hearing their songs on the radio, and I knew several of their songs back then, but I never really "got it", as I was just a kid. But now I've come to rediscover the band and it is something that has moved me a lot. Layne, what a man, I just can't believe the way he sang, as if it was effortless, as if the sound just poured out of those barely parted lips, and such emotion into it. The whole band is unbelievable, but this man, this fragile man, was so special. So here's a little something, a sort of a tribute.

PS: Unfortunately since I'm bad at portraits, I only started this as a "what if I try to do a portrait" so the framing is terrible, I'm kinda sad, it turned out better than I expected, I could have used the space a bit more wisely.
